What does it mean for the man Jesus of Nazareth to be God? What is the difference between God and creation? These are only two of the questions about the nature of God and the person of Christ that the early church struggled to answer. The Council of Nicaea was convened in 325A.D. as an attempt to settle disagreements over these questions, and was the first ecumenical council of the church. Stéphane Simonnin will help us to put the council in its historical context and consider what lessons can be drawn from its achievements and limitations.
